Making WWW site
Fully functional web site can be set up within a few minutes. Upload the HTML pages you have prepared to /www directory and your website will be available by typing www.yourserver.com in any web browser, provided that your domain name is already transferred to HOSTEX.
Here are a few guidelines on managing your site:
- all the files must be uploaded to /www directory or any recursive folder under /www. Note, that all the recursive folders will be visible in the file URL path. For example, a user uploads info.htm file into /www/data directory. Full URL path to this file would be http://www.UsersServer.com/data/info.htm
- All file names are case sensitive.
The filename of your home page should be index.html (or index.htm, index.php, index.phtml). Virtual server automatically sends the file at path /www/index.html when a browser requests http://www.yourdomain.com. When your account is set up, there will be an index.html page already installed, telling anyone accessing your website that your website is under construction and will be available soon. You should replace this file with your own.
You can create and update your pages using a number of web design and web publishing programs, such as Microsoft FrontPage®, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Allaire HomeSite and others.
