FrontPage ®Microsoft FrontPage® is a software package that allows you to create and maintain Web sites on your virtual server, without any need to learn HTML or use FTP client. The FrontPage system consists of two parts. The first is the FrontPage Client program, which runs on your personal computer and must be purchased from a software dealer. The second part is the FrontPage Server Extensions, which run on HOSTEX servers and allow your FrontPage client to communicate with your virtual server. To learn the basics of the FrontPage system, please consult Microsoft's FrontPage documentation at the following URL: http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/. Once you have created a local FrontPage Web site, it is very easy to publish it to your virtual server. You should first make sure that you have ordered the FrontPage extensions and that you are currently connected to the Internet. Then open your local web page via open web in the file menu amd select Publish web from the file menu. When the dialog box appears asking for the location to publish the Web to - type your complete domain name and click OK. Finally, you will be asked for the username and password of the FrontPage Administrative Account. FrontPage will then start to publish the entire Web Site. If you want to publish a FrontPage Web to a specific subdirectory of your virtual server (for example /www/htdocs directory), then you should follow the same procedure, except that when you type your domain name as the location, you need to add a slash (/) and then the name of the directory (in our example it would be yourdomain.com/htdocs). When you order FrontPage extensions two files _vti_* and _private would be created in your directory. HOSTEX system will automatically create FrontPage Administrative Account. This account has the same login name and password as your ftp account. Later on you can change the password for your ftp account, but the password for FrontPage Administration will stay the same. To change FrontPage Administration account password, go to Control Center - FrontPage extensions section. | ||||||||||||||
