Disk space and directories

There no limits for disk space usage. You can use as much disk space as you require. Several times a day system will calculate disk space usage. At the end of the billing period average disk space usage will be calculated and the cost will be added to monthly invoice.

How is disk space calculated? When you order your virtual server you get unique ID on the physical machine. All your files marked with this ID will be counted to get the real amount of disk usage. The standard quotas mechanism is used for calculation.

Information about currently occupied disk space can be obtained in the Control Center statistics page: https://www.hostex.net/cgi-bin/cspanel/server/svif.cgi. You will find the average disk space usage for this month and the result of the last measure.

Be aware of the fact that disk space is occupied not only by your files and scripts, but also by databases that you created, mail in your mailbox and raw log files (if this service is ordered). If you allow your website users to upload files to your site make sure to keep track of your disk space usage to avoid any unpleasant surprises. We provide several tools for monitoring and managing your disk space usage: Notification of exceeded disk space - notification by e-mail when server disk space usage exceeds the limit (that can be specified, changed or cancelled). Limit of user disk space - set maximum disk space quota for particular server. This tool is very useful for resellers who want to limit customer's disk usage. Both tools are free and can be found at Server Control Center, under "Resource Management" section.

Directories

System automatically creates a number of folders in the root directory of your server:

/cgi-bin - your CGI scripts directory.
/lib - custom libraries directory.
/links_checker - this directory is used by dead links checker (if ordered).
/logs - access and error log directory.
/secure - https directory.
/webalizer - Graphical statistics directory.
/work - place all your temporary and work files here.
/www - http root directory, where all your HTML pages should be placed.
